A fantastic experience and the most popular winter canyon!Tiger Snake Canyon is a very narrow, deep canyon with several long abseils and some wet sections (wading only). Start with an hour of downhill walking through the glorious wilderness of Wollemi National Park takes you to the beginning of the canyon: a slot in the ground, barely one metre wide! Here you abseil into the canyon, with a pool of cool water awaiting you at the bottom...luckily, it will only be ankle deep.After some wading, another short abseil followed by a (short) down-climb, you will arrive at the first long abseil situated next to a waterfall. It’s here that the canyon opens out into a beautiful rainforest gully for the next half hour until you reach the second and spectacular long abseil: a big drop into the dark chasm, sliding down between two canyon walls, just two metres apart. This section of the canyon has the creek flowing underground, so it can be travelled without getting wet. The trip through the deep and dark canyon is a fabulous and unique experience. The group will then enjoy a plentiful lunch surrounded by ancient tree ferns and towering rock formations allows some rest for the steep exit. Once back on the plateau, you can enjoy magnificent views as you walk through the rugged wilderness of the Blue Mountains.
