A sunrise balloon flight over Melbourne is a truly remarkable experience. There are few major cities in the world that can be traversed by hot air balloon and there certainly is no better way to take in Australia's second largest city. In the early morning light you will drift by the array of parks and gardens that make Melbourne the world's most liveable city. As the city comes to life you will look down on some of the city's iconic sporting venues, like the MCG, Melbourne Park and Albert Park racetrack. If you are looking for a romantic adventure that gives you a peek at city life from a totally different angle, then Ballooning over Melbourne is a must.

Balloon flights over Melbourne appeal to people of all ages, young and old. We offer complimentary transfers from all central city hotels and generally you would be back at your hotel before 9am. These flights have been specifically designed to have you back in time to pick up another tour, go shopping or go to work.

The meeting point is Hilton on the Park Hotel, where you will be returned after your flight for your delicious champagne buffet breakfast.

Participant Guidelines:
Participants must be six years or above.

Numbers on Day:
This experience is valid for one person. Flights can take up to 30 passengers.

What to Bring / Dress Code:
Wear hiking type clothes that can get stained or dirty. The burners can sometimes drip water mixed with Carbon - Global Ballooning will not be responsible for clothing that is stained or damaged as a part of our adventure activity. Wear sturdy shoes, warm socks, a cap and sunglasses. Bring a camera and a change of socks. High-heeled shoes are not suitable. For further information, refer to the 'other information' section.

Duration:
Participants will be picked up before dawn and returned before 9am. The balloon flight is 1 hour, followed by breakfast at the Hilton on the Park.

Availability:
Flights are scheduled seven days per week throughout the year, however they are dependent on weather and availability. Visitors should book a flight early in their stay in Melbourne so if their flight is cancelled there may be the chance to re-schedule.

Weather:
Global Ballooning will cancel flights if the weather conditions are unsuitable to fly. Pilots at Global Ballooning, pride themsleves on safety.

Spectators:
Spectators may follow the ground crew who 'chase' the balloon to the landing site. Non-flying guests may join in on the Champagne breakfast for $30.

Other:
All passengers must phone Melbourne City duty pilot the night before flight between 6.00pm and 6.30pm to confirm weather forecast and pick up time from city hotel. You will meet before sunrise so depending on the time of year and weather, it can be extremely cold. Generally it will not be any colder in the air during the flight than on the ground, so wear layered clothing that can be removed as the day warms up. The burners can radiate heat so a hat is recommended.
